Bio
Jess Coffman is an entertainer, choreographer, songwriter, poet, marathon runner and published author. She has toured singing and dancing nationally and internationally. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Industry Studies from California State University Northridge, and during that time completed internships at both Capitol Records in the Marketing Department and Paramount Studios in the Film Music Department. Jess recently published an original book of poetry entitled
In Pursuit of Peacocks: a compilation of poetry and lyrics, and has created The In Pursuit of Peacocks Live show which includes:
original songs and music, tap dancing, dance/poetry collaborations and spoken word.
Jess’s is looking forward to being the Director/Choreographer for the Young Artist's Ensemble and Conejo Theatre for Everyone's production of Guys and Dolls Jr. in the spring of 2021. Jess choreographed Once Upon a Mattress, The Little Prince, Mary Poppins Jr. and The Fantastic Mr. Fox previously with the Young Artist's Ensemble and the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.
In the spring/summer of 2019, Jess performed and was Dance Captain for Tuacahn Amphitheatre’s productions of The Little Mermaid, Disney’s When You Wish and The Sound of Music. While at Tuacahn, Jess was cast in the 2019 New Works Festival as “Pancho Barnes” in the reading of the musical Fly. This was Jess’s second time performing in a full season at Tuacahn. In 2012 she was “Shelley” in Hairspray and performed in Disney’s Aladdin.
To finish up 2019, Jess was Assistant Choreographer and performed in the Broadway Holiday Spectacular with Transcendence Theatre Company. Since 2015, she has performed in 14 full productions with Transcendence and in 2018 had her Choreography and Directing debut alongside Matthew Rossoff, with their creation of the original show Big Top Dreamers.
She has performed with other nationally acclaimed theatre companies such Sacramento Music Circus as "Francisca" in West Side Story, Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s production of Mary Poppins and with The Troubadour Theatre Company as “Dancer” in
The Year Without a Santana Claus.
Her other favorite musical theatre credits include: "Dusty Springfield," in All Her Faces: A Portrait of Dusty Springfield Off-Broadway, Lead Singer in the National Tour of Hooray for Hollywood, with Moonglow Productions and Dance Captain and Female Swing aboard the
Disney Dream Cruise Ship.
Jess is a member of Actor's Equity Association.
